'Tis the Season

'Tis the season for holiday decorating and the ladies at Sweetgrass Social have been busy!

We're always looking for fresh decorating ideas and this month's Southern Living inspired us to get into the holiday spirit by getting crafty. Flipping through the magazine, there are tons of great ideas, but this magnolia leaf wreath really stood out.

The oh-so southern magnolia leaf is a Charleston staple and it's perfect for creating a charming wreath. All you'll need is a 15 inch florist foam wreath, red velvet ribbon, fishing line and a finishing nail. For step-by-step instructions, check out Southern Living.

When the weather cools down, there's nothing better than cozying by the fire with loved ones and a steaming mug of hot cocoa. Of course, you're going to need a beautifully trimmed mantel and we've got the perfect solution. Try using a mixture of fresh flowers and garland. Red poinsettias are always a festive choice, but for a slightly more elegant look, we like white poinsettias or magnolias. White candles in hurricane glasses also add a chic touch.

Better Homes and Gardens has a slew of great mantel decorating ideas including this simple garland, ribbon and pine cone look.

For a more unique look, Better Homes and Gardens suggests using bay leaves as garland.

Don’t have the time or budget to shop for holiday décor? Be resourceful and use what you’ve got. The Sweetgrass Social girls looked no further than their backyards to create this fantastic centerpiece.

We couldn't resist adding this rustic sweetgrass tree ornament featured on Charleston Home magazine's website.

It's simple enough to create on your own, but we’re sure a stroll through the market downtown will help you find a wide variety of fabulous sweetgrass treasures.

Whether you're throwing a big holiday bash or simply enjoying the company of your family, it's easy to add a little holiday spirit to your home. Happy decorating!
