Todays Spotlight Wedding Venue: Old Wide Awake Plantation

When planning your wedding, your venue you choose sets the tone. Down here in the South, many of the weddings Sweetgrass Social plans are romantic, cozy, and outdoors. Todays spotlight venue is Old Wide Awake Plantation. Casey and Andrew were married on April 27th, 2013 and it was absolutely gorgeous. You have the main house which is perfect for getting ready, the outdoor party space that can be tented or not and looks onto the river, and the perfect exit space! Be sure that when you do pick your wedding venue, if you plan on having an outside wedding that you prepare a rain plan just in case mother nature does something a little crazy! We all know how unpredictable the Charleston weather can be!

The main house on the plantation is perfect for getting ready, taking photos, and enjoying time with your bridal party.

Here is a wonderful shot of both the bridal party, and the bride and groom on the porches of the main house.

The large tree and the river behind provide for a gorgeous rustic backdrop for your ceremony as well as some creative photos like the one above! Those balloons are such a fun idea!

And of course we can't forget about where we love to get the party started, the dance floor. Old Wide Awake Plantation has a beautiful space where you can set up your dance floor outside if you'd like. Casey and Andrew did exactly that! The bulb lights strung across the dance floor lit up the night and made a romantic and fun atmosphere! I wonder which lucky lady caught that bouquet?!

And now finally where you began the night as an engaged couple, you leave as husband and wife! The plantation has this wonderful walkway leading from the great house that allows you to make a grand exit. Casey and Andrew chose to have their guests light up sparklers as the night came to and end and they left their wonderful reception.
